Today’s was a lively and surprising meeting. Members unexpectedly found themselves called out of town, stranded in Parkersburg, West Virginia, or ill, so we had to scramble to fill a Toastmaster, an evaluator, and a timer slot. Ralph Sierra counseled us to do all things in moderation, David Canes delivered a fact-finding report on the Congo, and Karen Huang left us all wanting more with her presentation on The Best Peking Duck in Town. One member suggested, and most agreed, that a fact-finding field trip of our own to her favorite restaurant was in order.
Our next meeting, March 14, is our spring contest. All paid-up members are eligible to compete in the Evaluation Contest; most members who have completed six speeches are eligible to compete in International speech. Even if you don’t want to compete, we’d like all members to watch the contest and help as timers, counters, or judges. The contests are exciting events. For more information, contact Mike Schultz.
