Read the Declaration Out Loud

I thought I was doing good deciding to reread the Declaration of Independence today and to follow along with NPR’s annual proclamation of the Declaration. Then I read Denise Graveline’a post suggesting personal readings of the important document. Click through to read the whole post; here’s the really good stuff

For public speakers, reading the Declaration aloud isn’t just a nice way to honor the holiday. Reading any famous and familiar text aloud is a great way to practice how you vocalize. The familiarity of the text lets you focus on pronunciation, inflection, pauses and other ways of emphasizing particular words.

Sounds like a holiday observance well suited to Toastmasters and perhaps even to a club activity.

Have a safe and happy Fourth.
